Today is Friday, and that means I’ve got a Q&A for all you entrepreneurs out there looking to start a home healthcare staffing business. Today’s question is
“How do you deal with last-minute call-offs?”
Call-offs were tough in the early days. When we started our business, we became the providers, the nurses, the caregivers, and everything else when we had call-offs. We also created a ‘crisis list’, a list of local nurses and providers that we could call last-minute, and we’d have to pay them more for the inconvenience.
It’s so important to have reliable people on your team. If we found any inconsistencies in reliability, we just cut you out. If we put you in with a family, we expect the utmost in professionalism. So it’s important for owners to hire well, and make sure you assess reliability in the interview process.
How do you handle last-minute call-offs? Drop a note in the comments. Hope that’s helpful – thanks for watching!
