Hi, it’s DaveTheNurse, and in today’s Throwback Thursday clip, we go back to Memorial Day weekend 2020 to share a story about mistakes I made using Upwork.
I used Upwork to hire virtual assistants from around the world. I was blessed with an amazing person from the Philippines and a gentleman from India. And I screwed up, OK?
First, I erred on billing Mikhail out of India as well as Jaqueline from the Philippines. I made a mistake because I did not read the fine print. So what did I do to clear up the issue? I called Upwork reps to explain my situation. They essentially said I’d need to cancel both existing contracts with the two workers, and create two new contracts.
In the end, it all worked out, but as a business owner, you have to take responsibility for your screw-ups and fix the problem. Don’t waste your time trying to figure out what you did wrong – it’s not relevant, it doesn’t matter. Don’t blame anybody, just fix it.
