Hi, DaveTheNurse on Q&A Friday from the slopes of Snoqualmie Pass, WA answering the question:
“What Do You Charge for Clinical Services with your Medicare Certified Home Health Agency?”
Great question.
Much of what you can charge depends not only on the going rates in your community but also on your payment source. Here are a few examples.
- Medicare uses a generated score based on an assessment, and from that score, a dollar amount is generated and that’s what we charge for services rendered.
- When you work with big insurance companies, there is an agreed-upon dollar amount level for the rate of the service. The system usually dictates the charges, and it’s up to us whether or not we accept them.
- In private pay situations, we may bill $75-$95/hr. for skilled nursing. For occupational therapy services, we bill $175-$185/visit. For caregiving services, we range between $28/hr-$32/hr.
Generally, we recommend that It’s best to understand your community and keep your fees within a target ballpark price for your patients. Thanks for watching!
